FIREGROUND is focused and dedicated to providing an elite level of fire training and planning. Our trainers and planners have significant experience in fire mitigation, planning and training in a range of landscapes and competencies.

FIREGROUND is a Registered training Organisation (RTO No. 41245) and all our trainers & assessors are fully qualified in the relevant competency as well have holding Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. All trainers have a minimum of 20 years’ experience in fire operations and have been selected for their ability to effectively impart their experience.

Government Agencies

Landholders

We pride ourselves on delivery of the highest quality tools for Emergency Evacuation Planning (EEP) for landholders. We can assist with a practical Bush Fire Risk Assessment (BFRA) for properties and their potential for impact from unprescribed bushfire. The BFRA will identify areas of greatest impact and recommend a range of cost effective and feasible mitigation options. No property too small or too large.

We can also assist with a specialised Prescribed Burn/ Hazard Reduction Plan for landholders to assist in mitigation of fire impacting their lands and to promote long-term reduction of high risk hazard zones. All planning integrates the landholder with the latest standards and systems with their states relevant fire agencies requirement.

Private residents in rural and peri-urban communities

We offer a detailed and cost effective Emergency Evacuation Planning (EEP) which identifies the standard procedures and process for timely evacuation options when the threat of bushfire is announced. It includes measures to reduce the impact of fire on your prizes asset, your home. All planning integrates the resident with the latest standards and systems with their states relevant fire agencies requirement.

Fire Training

FIREGROUND is currently working with the Forestry Corporation of NSW to deliver high quality fire training  for its new seasonal firefighters and upgrading the qualifications of their existing firefighters. We are working alongside Forestry trainers to conduct training in Forest Firefighter, Advanced Firefighter and Crew Leader, through a series of 5 boot camps across NSW during 2016.

Incident Management

FIREGROUND offers a full range of Incident Management awareness and system training for all industries.

FIREGROUND trainers have extensive experience in team and leadership development, Incident Management systems incorporating Australasian Inter-Service, Incident Management System (AIIMS). FIREGROUND is now licensed by AFAC to deliver AIIMS and BWA training, after meeting stringent criteria to deliver both of the nationally-accredited courses.

FIREGROUND can deliver the whole suite of fire training from planning through to incident management.

About our Managing Director, Dave HitchcockDave Hitchcock - Managing Director of Fireground

Dave’s passion for training led him to establish Fireground. He observed an opportunity to make a real change in the quality of delivery of fire training and development of training materials. This led him to develop a company with both consultancy and RTO capabilities. As well as his personal expertise, Dave has called on the knowledge of the many networks he has established throughout his years of experience working for Government Land Management Agencies.

Dave is a Certificate IV Trainer Assessor and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science. Dave has held multi-disciplinary roles within fire agencies, including; plant operator, CM, CL, DC, Air Obs, Ops, Logs, PO, IC, Interstate Liaison Officer and is a Retained Structural Firefighter with FRNSW. He has an extensive background in Land Management, from field operational roles to middle-level management with Forestry and NPWS and superior experience in WHS & Risk Management relating to Land Management practices and operations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree Applied Science – CSU
  • Associated Diploma Park Management – CSU
  • Certificate IV Training & Assessment with over 400 hours in the last 5 years

Extensive accreditation in fire roles, including;

  • Fire Investigation
  • IMT roles, specifically IC Class 3
